A doctor was beaten this Friday by a patient who was waiting for her turn at the Emergency Service of the Hospital de São Bernardo, Setubal, having undergone minor surgery.
A female doctor was beaten by a patient at dawn on Friday at the São Bernardo Hospital in Setúbal, Jornal de Notícias said . According to the same newspaper, the aggressor, who was waiting for her turn at the Emergency Service, entered the doctor’s office and beat her, pulling her hair and sticking a finger in her eye.
The doctor was later subjected to minor surgery at the same hospital and was discharged. The aggressor was identified by the PSP while still in hospital and released.
The Setúbal Hospital Center said in a statement sent to the newspaper: “in the performance of care delivery functions, health professionals are subject to risks that we try to minimize”, adding that “the Setúbal Hospital Center is giving full support the targeted professional ”.
The incident, according to the same statement “was forwarded to the competent authorities.”
