Portugal : 10 people died on Road accidents over long weekend

Ten people died and 24 were seriously injured in road accidents during the four days of Operation All Saints, which GNR, the road traffic police, carried out from Thursday to Sunday, according to provisional data from the corporation.

According to the daily balance sheets available on the GNR website, between Friday and the end of Sunday there were more than 1,000 road accidents in the country, which caused 10 deaths, 24 serious injuries and 341 light injuries.

GNR intensified patrols on the busiest roads during the period from October 31st to November 3rd, during Operation All Saints.

The operation, which aimed to “support road users and reduce situations that constitute risk behaviour” over the extended weekend, mobilised the Territorial Commands and the National Traffic Unit.
