“We know that we continue to make the best decisions,” said the Secretary of State for Health, António Lacerda Sales, regarding the decrease in the number of infected in Portugal.
“It is a reason for great satisfaction. It has been very difficult. We are very happy”: It was in this way that Sales, emotionally, confirmed the absence of deaths in the country due to the pandemic, confirming that it is very complicated to give sad news on a daily basis.
However, the Secretary of State stated that “not relaxing the rules” is what must be done for the country to continue to recover, in particular alerting the population on vacation.
“It is not true”, continued António Sales, denying the cancellation of tests to high risk contacts.
Regarding the number of health professionals infected with coronavirus, there are a total of 4,195. Of these, 553 are doctors, 1289 are nurses, 1227 are operational assistants and 166 technical assistants. There are currently 636 infected professionals.
There are 3559 health professionals recovered from the coronavirus.
“If we have a case, the likelihood of that case having contact with other people today is substantially greater,” said the deputy general director of Health, adding that it is essential to maintain surveillance to “cut” with the contamination chains.
