Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa announced this Thursday, the measures that will come into force on September 15th.
The Prime Minister said that since the beginning of August there has been a sustained growth in the number of new cases. The number of people hospitalized in general and in intensive care has stabilized.
On September 8, it was the record day for tests performed with a total of 20 thousands 527 tests. The Prime Minister reinforced the idea that the “Government has been increasing testing capacity”.
Among the new measures are:
– Gatherings are limited to 10 people;
– Commercial establishments with opening hours from 10 am. Each municipality will determine the closing time between 8 pm and 11 pm;
– Restaurants in shopping centers can only have four people per group;
– Sale of alcoholic beverages is forbidden after 8 pm except in catering establishments. The consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited on public roads;
– Events and establishments in the vicinity of schools must be controlled. In restaurants, cafes and pastry shops 300 meters from schools the maximum limit is four people per group;
– The intervention of rapid district brigades to contain and stabilize outbreaks in homes, involving doctors and nurses to act in outbreaks, in order to prevent a rapid proliferation of the virus. The 18 teams will be active at the end of this week;
– Sports events will continue without fans.
– Among the new work measures, the difference between mandatory hours with different entry and exit times, turnover schedules between teleworking and face-to-face work for companies in the metropolitan area of Porto and Lisbon stands out.
