Covid19 in Portugal : Record Break on New Infection since early April, 849 infected, 5 dead

Lisbon.

Portugal recorded five more deaths and 849 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, a number similar to that reached in early April, a month after the pandemic entered the country.

The country so far accounts for 1,899 fatalities and 68,025 confirmed cases. This is the fifth day with the most people infected since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to Saturday’s epidemiological bulletin, there are 351 more recovered compared to this Friday. So far 45,404 people have recovered from the disease.

In relation to the number of inpatients, there are 32 more, in a total of 497. There are seven more people in the care unit, making a total of 64.

The North Region has 288 new cases, the Central Region plus 66, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo has 439 more cases, Alentejo 16, Algarve more 35 and Madeira five more.

The Azores archipelago has not registered any case of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

This Saturday, the Northern Region of the country concentrates four of the five fatal victims, with the fifth being recorded in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region.

39,388 surveillance contacts remain, 667 more than in relation to Friday.

With regard to confirmed cases, 37 290 relate to women and 30 735 to men. In terms of deaths, 958 are male and 941 are female. Of the total deaths, 1266 are over 80 years old.
